Helping low-income families and individuals remain in their homes is what the Homeless Prevention Program is about. It is also about helping currently homeless families and individuals get back into homes. Using a combination of financial support, case management and individualized strategies, SHELTER, Inc.'s Homeless Prevention Program helps families and individuals in crisis maintain or obtain housing, achieve greater stability, learn budgeting and progress towards self-sufficiency.
RENTAL ASSISTANCE
SHELTER, Inc. offers one-time rental assistance to households, both families and individuals, who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.
INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
About 25% of prevention clients receive intensive case management services in addition to 3 to 6 months of limited financial assistance. Each family creates a self-sufficiency action plan with written goals and objectives to help them move toward economic stability. During weekly meetings a case manager, they review their progress towards self-sufficiency, working manage budgets and progress towards economic self-sufficiency.
